As the sun begins to dip below the horizon, we embark on an unforgettable journey to the charming community of Mata Oscura. This is not just any evening; it’s a chance to witness the majestic sea turtles during their nesting moments, a truly magical experience that connects us to nature. With great respect for these gentle giants, we may even be fortunate enough to see hatchlings breaking free from their eggs in the onsite nurseries, a heartwarming sight that embodies the cycle of life.
Our adventure takes us on a 1.2 km trek along the pristine beach, where the sound of waves accompanies our footsteps. If we spot a turtle, our excitement builds as we carefully collect data and relocate her nest to the nursery, ensuring its protection. As the day comes to a close, we gather for a delightful dinner featuring local dishes, celebrating the flavors of the region and supporting the community of Mata Oscura. This experience not only enriches our connection to wildlife but also leaves us with lasting memories of the beauty and fragility of nature.
