SHORT TERM TRAVEL COURSE

Aimed at engineers and students of agriculture and likewise for those interested in learning about the different areas of production in our country. A ten+ days experience conducted through farm visits nationwide in areas such as: coffee plantations, cocoa productions, organic production practices, different purposes livestock, shrimp pond, poultry, sugar and liqueur mills, pig farming, pineapples, bananas, oil palms, cucurbits, corn, among many other items.

THIS ARE SOME COURSE HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Learn about Panamanian cultural heritage
  • Come and taste the sweet flavor of pineapple and watermelon from Panama.
  • Immerse yourself in a fun experience by enjoying the New Year’s festivities in the town of Las Tablas.
  • Visit a Coffee farm and learn about the importance of Geisha coffee from Panama. Feel its aroma and flavor on a tasting experience
  • Learn how Cocoa and Ngöbe indigenous have special connection. Have experience on making your own chocolate bar.
  • Learn about tropical livestock breeds in Panama like Red Angus, Simmenthal and Senepol
  • Learn about horticulture and organic agriculture production own by woman agriculture

DAY 1: PANAMA CITY Welcome dinner

DAY 2: PANAMÁ –  CHIRIQUI

Transfer to Chiriqui. Lodge in Volcán

DAY 3 VOLCAN – SANTA CLARA

Visit Coffee Plantation Farm. Coffee Varieties: Typica, Caturra, Catuaí, Bourbón Paché, Pacamara, Maragogipe, Geisha.  Traditional and artisanal methods such as Sun Dry and Honey Coffees are implemented in the farm. 

Visiting Cattle farm: special genetics, breeding of European cattle, American Quarter Horses and Friesian Horses

DAY 4:  VOLCAN – CERRO PUNTA – BUGABA – BOQUETE

Learn about vegetables production in Panama onions, peppers, tomatoes and mostly potatoes

Explore Dairy  Farm with an integrated sustainable system in tropical weather

DAY 5: BOQUETE

Production of different varieties of lettuces and vegetables in hydroponics system and organic production. Visit a rice growing farm  and mill and packing factory.

DAY 6: AZUERO

Visit to distilling in Pese.  Learn about

  • Experience Tasting Ceremony
  • Taste Panamanian typical lunch served at the table 

DAY 7: LAS TABLAS – GUARARE  

Live in person Panamanian Customs and Traditions. Here you will learn about the art for handicrafts of significant value in the Azuero region comprising the cultural and folkloric heritage of Panama.  Enriching the visiting expert craftsmen who make beautiful pieces such as Panamanian peasant sandals called cutarras, made entirely by hand. 

Artisans will delight us with the most beautiful works in the art of sewing Pollera recognized as national typical dress, textile jewel expensive and specialized techniques have passed from generation to generation. Completing this circuit will participate in an unforgettable experience to learn by making dirty and clean masks, an interesting piece used in folk dances from different regions of Panama Diablicos.

DAY 8: PINNEAPPLE AND WATERMELON 

On this visit you will have the chance to visit pineapple fields, to learn about this crop production from the seed to the fruit.  In addition, we will have the opportunity to harvest the fruit by ourselves.  After the field visit, we will learn about the fruit classification, depending on the markets demands.   We will learn about this fruit bricks and finally to the packing plant. 

After this experience you will be visiting a watermelon plantation farm, to know the production of these items in our country.
